Active Devon

The Vision - Everyone in Devon Active for Life

Working together with those who share a vision of an active Devon the aim to to create, support and promote local community-based opportunities for people in Devon to participate in physical activity and sport

Active Devon is based at the Sports Park at the Univeristy of Exeter and is the County Sports Partnership (CSP) for Devon, part of a network of 49 CSPs across England

Formed in 2000, Active Devon's remit has broadened steadily, providing a vehicle for the delivery of other sports development programmes and initiatives and also promoting the importance of physical activity in its widest sense

Initally the focus was weighted towards development of sport for young people. Since 2009 there has been a significant, though not exclusive, shift towards developing participation in sport and physical activity for people over 16

By drawing together sports clubs & community sports clubs coaches, volunteers and the general public from within and beyond the sport sector the aim is to try and make sure that the efforts and resources invested in supporting more active lifestyles achieve maximum impact

The organisation provides training programmes, support and advice and signposts and provides funding. The aim is to provide positive and motivational support to sustain participation

Funded principally by Sport England, Active Devon works closely with the organisation to deliver many of the programmes as per the regions needs
