Gym & Swim for All Bookings Update

From June 6th LED customers will no longer be able to book Gym or ‘Swim for All’ sessions in advance. These activities will be available on a walk-in only basis and customers must now check-in at reception on arrival.


Why have bookings been removed?

Following the closure of LED Leisure Centres as a result of the national lockdown, our team worked incredibly hard to ensure we could safely reopen our facilities in accordance with COVID-19 guidance set by our industry governing body UK Active. 

These guidelines required LED to restrict attendance in our gym spaces and swimming pools to comply with both social distancing and ventilation guidelines. 

The requirement to book gym and swimming sessions was brought in to ensure all customers had a guaranteed space on arrival and to reduce the disappointment of turning up eager for your workout  or swim only to have to wait or be turned away due to our facilities being at max capacity.

As these COVID-19 guidelines relaxed and we sought to make our facilities more accessible to customers LED developed to a hybrid booking system where members could either walk-in to the gym or book in advance as desired. 

Increasing feedback from existing customers, and other members of our community, suggested this procedure is a little confusing and is not in line with many other organisations in the leisure industry. LED Community Leisure have taken the decision to return back to our pre-pandemic gym and swimming booking procedures. 

Please note: As Seaton Fitness Centre is a reception less facility members will still be required to book a gym session via the LED Leisure app to check-in at the turnstile gates at reception. 


Which activities still require booking?

Any activities which have a restricted number of attendees will remain bookable via the LED Leisure app, website or via telephone. Such activities include:

  • Group exercise classes
  • Swim and gym classes such as; Functional Circuits, Swim Fit and Good Boost.
  • Lane swimming 
  • Tennis activities such as; Cardio Tennis, Rusty Rackets and Match Play.

Back-to-back Swim for All sessions

Please note, customers are encouraged to arrive and leave at any time during any back-to-back ‘Swim for All’ sessions and are not required to arrive and leave at scheduled times.

For example, Exmouth Leisure Centre has back-to-back Swim for All sessions on Sundays at 16:30 - 17:29 & 17:30 - 18:29. Customers are not required to arrive at 16:30 and leave by 17:29, you could instead arrive at 16:45 and stay until 17:45 if you prefer.

Gym busy times

We understand that many members liked the booking system because they could see how many other customers would be in the gym at any time and avoid busier times if preferred. 

Whilst our new walk-in system will not be able to provide this information we will strive to record and report our quarterly average attendances throughout the day via notice boards on site, the LED app and LED website.
