Sidmouth Swimming Pool won ‘Most Improved Club of the Year’ as software provider ‘TRP’ unveiled the winners of its annual 2020 Member Experience Awards (MEA).
Now in its third year, the MEA has been created to recognise and reward health and fitness clubs, leisure centres, gyms, swimming pools and golf clubs across the globe for consistent delivery of exceptional member experiences. The awards are determined by customer feedback over a 12-month period.
James Charles, who helms the awards said: “In what was such a truly challenging year for the industry, it was really important to us that we ensured the MEA went ahead so we could give operators a well-deserved opportunity to reflect on their fantastic achievements this year and celebrate with their peers.
“Even during the difficult circumstances faced in 2020, the standards of member experience delivery were still maintained at an exceptionally high level and this is testament to the hard work and dedication of operators and their teams.”
The virtual 2020 event saw 24 awards handed out, including operator of the year, site of the year, most improved operator of the year and most improved site of the year.
Manager Steve Reid commented “Sidmouth Swimming Pool are delighted to be named winners of the ‘Most Improved Club of the Year’ award. It is fantastic that our teams efforts to improve the customer experience have been recognised and even more so that this is due to direct feedback from our customers. It has been a challenging year for the entire industry and this has been no different at Sidmouth Swimming Pool, however, the response of the team to provide safe and enjoyable swimming activities throughout has been amazing.”
“As a community pool we know how important swimming is to our members, and as many activities as possible resumed as guidance allowed, including our learn to swim programme. Throughout, the team have listened to member feedback, acting upon it wherever they can. We look forward to continuing to improve in 2021 and challenging for the ‘Club of the Year’ award!”
In a challenging 2020 the team made every effort to re-open the pool as quickly and as safely as possible. Returning swimmers were specifically surveyed and their response was overwhelmingly positive about the safety measures in place, cleanliness of the facilities and the team. Measured against other leisure providers both nationally and internationally, Sidmouth Pool rated significantly above the industry benchmark.
Steve also commented on the content of the feedback, “what was really great about the member feedback was how safe and welcomed our members felt as they returned to our pool and how important swimming was to keeping our members healthy and maintaining a positive attitude.”
The Swimming Pool is currently closed, however a small team are working behind the scenes ready to re-open as soon as possible and expanding the range of activities as soon as it is safe to do so.
