LED Leisure statement concerning Coronavirus

As you will no doubt be aware by now, on Saturday 31st October Boris Johnson announced a lockdown in England, beginning on Thursday 5th November and ending on Wednesday 2nd December.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of the leisure and fitness industry body, UK Active, to persuade the Government that gyms and leisure centres are not only very safe COVID-19 environments but also vital for people’s physical and mental health, all LED’s leisure facilities will close on Thursday, along with all the others in England.

Our activities will therefore continue up to and including Wednesday, after which our centres will close. If you are a member, you need do nothing; all membership fee collections will be suspended for November and annual memberships will be extended by a further month, in addition to any extensions resulting from the first lockdown earlier this year.

If you have activities booked for the lockdown period these will be cancelled or postponed; managers of our respective facilities and activities will be in touch in the next few days to confirm arrangements.

Throughout the lockdown period, we will be providing the community with a variety of fitness and wellbeing options to help motivate you to keep fit and healthy.

Let’s hope that this lockdown has the desired effect in controlling the spread of the Coronavirus, and that we will return to a full programme of activities when it has finished – we look forward to seeing you then!!

In the meantime, we’ll provide updates as necessary, so keep checking your emails, LED’s app, or your normal social media outlets.

Keep safe and let’s  defeat the virus!
