Latest LED Community Leisure statement concerning Coronavirus
The health and wellbeing of our members and staff remains our absolute priority.
LED’s centres remain open as normal, and we are closely monitoring the Government guidelines on the COVID-19 virus each day and are following their advice.

In these difficult, uncertain times, your continued support is very much appreciated. We believe our centres are an essential and valuable element of local community life, and as a not for profit charitable trust all revenues generated are reinvested into the facilities and services. Accordingly to best protect the health of our customers we are investing in increased sanitisation and cleaning protocols and would like to reassure you that we are adhering to Public Health England guidance. We are committed to ensuring our centres are always clean and safe, so you can confidently continue to enjoy your activities.

Following Monday’s Government update we will be restricting the number of places in our studio classes, deactivating some of the equipment in the gym, widening spaces in between equipment and looking at the possibility of moving some of our classes from our studios into other suitable areas in the building, as well as introducing small outdoor sessions – especially as daylight hours improve. These will be made available to book on the App and via the LED website. This will enable you to keep an increased distance from others in compliance with the Government’s social distancing guidelines.

Some members have asked in particular about the use of swimming pools. Public Health England have confirmed that coronavirus is inactivated at the levels of chlorine that is used in swimming pools.  So there has never been a better time to rediscover a love of the water – perhaps even learning to swim for the first time. Remember it is not just about casual or lane swimming, there are a range of aqua exercises available, which are beneficial for your health and fitness.
Visitors to swimming pools are reminded to shower before using the pool, to shower on leaving the pool and to follow the necessary hygiene precautions when visiting facilities. Also to help reduce the risk of infection we ask all members to maintain safe distances when using communal changing areas .Please be assured that we are increasing cleaning procedures in these areas.

As a community facility offering more than just theatre shows, Exmouth Pavilion will remain open for local activities although the main show programme is very likely to be affected – check the Pavilion programme or Facebook page for details https://www.ledleisure.co.uk/exmouth-pavilion/whats-on

Ocean will also be following Government guidelines and will update customers via the website and Facebook page https://www.oceanexmouth.co.uk/covid-19-statement

To protect you as much as possible, and to provide you with the best possible service, please note the following:

We have significantly increased the cleaning, wiping and sanitising of our centres throughout the day, however it would be appreciated if you could also assist by wiping down equipment after use.
We have increased the deployment of antibacterial hand sanitisers where possible.
We ask for your help in washing your hands thoroughly, as often as possible. We can reassure you that every single member of our team has committed to this.
We have now asked staff to refrain from shaking hands (or other similar greetings) with colleagues, members or guests as a preventative measure.
We ask that if you are attending a class or the gym, if you are able to, please bring your own mat with you
Our staff are receiving ongoing, daily briefings and significantly enhanced operating protocols.
We are monitoring capacity in all areas of the centres.
If you are feeling unwell, we ask you to postpone your visit and adhere to Government guidelines.
Any staff member that shows symptoms will be required to self-isolate.

Advice from UK Active is staying active is an important part of remaining healthy and protecting against coronavirus. For now, it is very much business as usual.
As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the team at your local centre.

Kind regards
