Myth:
Your muscle will turn to fat if you suddenly stop training
Truth:
This is essentially muscle alchemy and is not possible.
Fat and muscle are two different types of body tissue and cannot be converted from one to another.
This myth originally came from the idea that people who train and have a healthy diet would gain weight if they stopped or reduce their training.
This is due to people often struggling to adapt their diets when they change their training.
When you reduce the amount of training you do, your muscle will atrophy (shrink). This is normally combined with an increase in calorie intake, which often leads to gaining excess body fat.
What you eat is incredibly important to your training program. Pop in and see one of the nutrional advisers at Goldenstones Gym if you have any questions.
